Wedding Bells

Tommy Coe and Jane Morris, both of Clinton, were married today on the playground of Windy Hill Elementary School.
The bride, age 6, is a kindergartener at Windy Hill Elementary where her favorite activities are art, reading, and quiet choice time. The groom, also age 6 and in the same kindergarten class as his new wife, lists physical education, lunch, and show and tell as his favorite subjects.
The bride and groom became engaged one fall day when Tommy returned home from school and announced to his family that, whether he liked it or not, his friend Jane intended to marry him.

The engagement was confirmed one snowy winter evening when the future in-laws ran into Jane at a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. Jane was running joyfully through the arcade singing and dancing, “I’m gonna marry Tommy! I’m gonna marry Tommy!”
From that moment on, the groom diligently saved his allowance so that he could purchase a mood ring to present to his fiancé. The first time she wore the ring, it turned a vibrant shade of blue, indicating “passion.”
Although she was thrilled with her new jewelry, the bride had to ask her older brother for a definition of the word “passion.” When he gave his response, she was overheard saying, “Eeewww!” but, to her credit, she did not cancel the nuptials.
The playground was chosen for the ceremony because of its deep meaning to the couple’s relationship. “Sometimes we play chase here,” Tommy said.
The large wedding party included nineteen of the couple’s classmates serving as bridesmaids and groomsmen. The double ring ceremony was loud and lively with several of the girls throwing dandelions at the couple and arguing about whether or not Jane should kiss her groom.
Many of the boys left early so that they could play kickball before the whistle blew.
The ceremony was officiated by first grade student Billy “The Rev” Mason, who claims he became an ordained minister online last year.
Technology teacher Kathy Cook confirmed that last year, she caught Mason playing on www.DoAWedding.com, but it is unknown whether or not he completed the online course because he did not have a PayPal account at the time.
Unfortunately both the bride and groom’s parents could not be in attendance at the ceremony due to the fact that they all had to work that day.
Following the ceremony, ice cream sandwiches were served in the cafeteria.
The couple plans a honeymoon trip to the Town Park. When they return, they plan to maintain separate residences until their teenage years, although the bride was overheard asking the groom to come over one weekend. “You can sleep over Tommy!” she exclaimed. “I just got bunk beds!”
